Eddie Adcock forged new pathways into traditional three-finger picking by developing a style that combines traditional Scruggs-style bluegrass with country, folk, jazz, blues, gospel and rockabilly sounds. His musical ideas have influenced innumerable banjo players. On this fascinating lesson, Eddie analyzes the chord shapes and licks that make up his unique style. You'll learn how a basic travis picking guitar style can be transferred to the banjo, complete with damped bass string and bluesy licks; how to create pedal steel-like hammer-ons and double bends; how to play melodic lines and scales with single string rolls, and much more. Eddie teaches, in note-for-note detail, some of the banjo tunes that have been most requested over the years: Eddie's Bounce, Turkey Knob, Pallet On The Floor, Heartaches, and Bluebell. This lesson will open up new techniques and a myriad of ideas for learning pickers. As in all Homespun lessons, you'll see Eddie's hands in detailed, split-screen close-up to allow you to follow either his picking or fretting hand as he demonstrates his tunes.
